Taravari on anaphylaxis death of Kumanovo resident: Request sent to revoke physician's license

Skopje, 4 April 2025 (MIA) — Minister of Health Arben Taravari said the Medical Chamber has been asked to revoke the license of the physician who had been on duty when Vedat Ademi, a 32-year-old Kumanovo resident hospitalized for abdominal pain, died of anaphylaxis shortly after receiving medical care in the Kumanovo hospital.

Ademi's family accused the hospital of medical negligence, claiming that he had been given a medicine he was allergic to.

"We are absolutely following the case. The Ministry of Health has already proposed to the Medical Chamber to revoke the license of the doctor who was on duty that night," Taravari said.

He said a forensic report had been submitted to the prosecutors leading the investigation a week ago.

Previously, Taravari dismissed the director of the Kumanovo hospital, Stefan Trajanovski, after a State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate report found a number of irregularities in the hospital.

The Kumanovo Prosecutor's Office is conducting the investigation into the cause of Ademi's death. He died on March 17 after going into anaphylactic shock.

It is not yet known what caused the anaphylaxis, which is a response by the immune system trying to fight off an antigen. mr/
