Tetovo, 5 May 2025 (MIA) — Health Minister Arben Taravari, who leads one of the Alliance for Albanians party wings, has confirmed he would meet Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski Monday afternoon for talks on his future in the government as well as his party wing's plans regarding the local elections.
Speaking to the press in Tetovo, Taravari said his party wing remained steadfast in their decision to name their own candidates for the upcoming local elections, but he would also hear what Mickoski had to say on the matter.
He said the party members had already decided to have "our own candidates for mayors in the municipalities where we will be running."
However, Taravari added, "We will hear out the prime minister, too, and then determine how to proceed."
PM Mickoski said this weekend he would meet with Taravari for talks on his role as a member of the government and his potential collaboration with the opposition party DUI at the local elections.
"At the meeting, I want to hear clearly whether it is true" that Taravari has agreed with DUI for DUI not to name any mayoral candidates in at least five or six municipalities where Taravari’s party wing candidates will run, the prime minister said.
If Taravari was indeed making this kind of deals with DUI, Mickoski said, "for me, as prime minister, this is unacceptable." mr/
