Skopje, 15 February 2023 (MIA) – A tender for the supervision of Phase I of the Kichevo – Bukojchani Corridor 8 motorway section has been released. This project is realized by the Public Enterprise for State Roads through European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan. The deadline for interested companies is February 28.

The tender follows EBRD rules and is published on its ECEPP platform, as well as the Public Enterprise for State Roads’ website.

The Public Enterprise for State Roads says that the projection is in its final stages and the overall value of the project is not yet known.

To build this 10,2 km long section, the overall projected costs amount to EUR 132.7 million, of which EUR 110 million are a loan from EBRD, and EUR 19.8 million an investment grant from the Western Balkams Investment Framework.

The 30.1km-long Gostivar-Bukojchani section is part of the package of four motorway sections intended for construction by US-Turkish joint venture Bechtel-Enka. A contract was signed on February 2 with IRD Engineering to supervise the construction of these sections, after which negotiations with Bechtel-Enka started around the start, pace and other project activities.

The first 2 km of the Skopje – Blace highway are under construction, and a tender is expected to be announced for the second part. The Kichevo – Ohrid highway has been under construction since February 2014, and as announced, it should be finalized by the end of this year. dk/ik/
