Skopje, 8 May 2024 (MIA) - State Election Commission (SEC) president Aleksandar Dashtevski told a press conference that Wednesday's presidential runoff and parliamentary elections were fair, democratic, and professionally administered.

"Citizens voted according to their own will," said Dashtevski and thanked all electoral authorities for their hard work, the media for their positive reporting, as well as all election stakeholders.

The SEC president confirmed that the threshold for the presidential elections has been reached, since turnout stood at 46.31 percent by 6.30 p.m., whereas turnout for the parliamentary elections was higher at 53.3 percent.

SEC is expected to present the preliminary unofficial results by 11.30 p.m.
