Skopje, 11 March 2025 (MIA) – The session of the joint committee on economic cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Czech Republic took place in Prague, during which steps were agreed upon to enhance bilateral cooperation in several sectors, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources said.
The Macedonian delegation was led by Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, who is actively committed to strengthening economic ties with Czechia and is initiating concrete steps to attract investments and expand business cooperation between the two countries. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikolovski, along with representatives from several ministries, held parallel discussions with their Czech counterparts. Discussions focused on cooperation in energy, transport, foreign and domestic affairs, culture, environmental protection, agriculture, and other areas of common interest.
Minister Bozhinovska, in her speech before the delegations, highlighted Macedonia's commitment to supporting Czech investors in realizing their business projects and ensuring a stable and predictable business climate with attractive investment conditions.
“Macedonia is open to strategic partnerships with Czech companies, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and industrial production. We see Czechia as a strategic partner in energy and industry. Our country offers a stable investment environment and clear regulations to protect businesses. At the same time, we are intensifying reforms in the energy sector to ensure a modern, sustainable, and competitive economy,” Bozhinovska said.
Deputy Prime Minister Nikolovski noted that direct meetings with Czech institutions and companies open up new opportunities for investments and partnerships.
“I am confident that this cooperation will lead to concrete projects. Macedonia and Czechia have a longstanding tradition of collaboration, and the establishment of a direct flight route will facilitate economic and tourism exchange between the two countries. We expect this initiative to become a reality soon,” Nikolovski said.
In addition to official meetings, representatives from several ministries and institutions conducted field visits, each within their respective domain. Members of the Macedonian delegation also included representatives from the Macedonian Power Plants, Ohrid Summer Festival, and the Ministry of Culture, who discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation in energy, cultural exchange and infrastructure projects.
As part of the visit, Bozhinovska also held a separate meeting with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Jan Kavalírek, and discussed concrete opportunities for experience exchange and expert assistance.
The official visit to Czechia wrapped up with the signing of a protocol from the third session of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation between Macedonia and Czechia, aimed at initiating specific projects, deepening trade relations, and implementing joint initiatives, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources said in a press release.
