Skopje, 29 February 2024 (MIA) – The statute of limitations has expired in the “Tenders” case launched by the now-defunct Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPO), as a result of the recent amendments of the Criminal Code. One of the defendants in the case was former Culture Minister Elizabeta Kancheska-Milevska.
In a statement for MIA, the Criminal Court confirmed the expiration of the statute of limitations in the case following an appeal by the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecuting Organised Crime and Corruption over the expiry.
Due to the amendments of the Criminal Code adopted in a fast-track procedure in September 2023, the statute of limitations have so far expired in the “Target-Fortress”, “Talir”, “Trajectory” and “Powerman” cases launched by the Special Prosecutor’s Office.
