State marks 22nd anniversary of defenders' death in Karpalak ambush

Skopje, 8 August 2023 (MIA) — High state delegations will lay flowers to pay their respects to the ten defenders who were killed in an ambush near the Prilep village of Karpalak 22 years ago.
Minister of Defense Slavjanka Petrovska and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army Lieutenant Colonel General Vasko Gjurchinovski will lead a Defense Ministry delegation that will lay flowers at Karpalak in memory of the soldiers.
A parliamentary delegation consisting of Mile Talevski, Olga Lozanovska, and Ane Lashkoska will lay flowers at the Karpalak memorial in Prilep.
Prilep started commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the tragic incident on Monday when municipality officials, army delegations, and family members paid their respects at the memorial to the fallen soldiers at the Mirche Acev barracks, the memorial in the Prilep village of Lenishte, and the St. Petka monastery in Prilep.
The ten army reservists Sasho Kitanoski, Nane Naumoski, Branko Sekuloski, Marko Despotoski, Erdovan Shabanoski, Ljube Grujoski, Darko Veljanoski, Vebi Rushitoski, Goran Minoski, and Pece Sekuloski were killed in the August 8, 2001, Karpalak ambush. mr/
