Skopje, 19 December 2024 (MIA) — At the initiative of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, the Ministry of Digital Transformation has secured Mden 95 million for the filming of a documentary, a feature film, and a TV series about beloved Macedonian music star Toshe Proeski, who died in a car crash in Croatia in 2007 at the height of his career. He was 26.
According to Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski in a MTV appearance on Thursday morning, this would be one of the most important national projects honoring the greatest contemporary Macedonian star's life and legacy.
The project will be led by the Macedonian Radio and Television and co-produced by several national televisions from the Balkans. It will be co-financed through the Ministry of Digital Transformation with funding from the Macedonian budget.
Andonovski said the idea for the documentary had been discussed by the national broadcaster and local and regional production companies.
"But the inspiration, the initiative, was mainly PM Hristijan Mickoski's, so in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance, the funds were secured in an express procedure," the digital transformation minister said.
"This will be something we will be proud of in the next two years," Andonovski said.
"First, preparing for it and filming it will be an experience for all of us.
"I am happy that one of the first steps this government is taking in its first six months is a thing like this," he said, "celebrating the greatest Macedonian music icon — the Macedonian nation's guardian angel." mr/
