Shtip, 27 February 2025 (MIA) - Even if we are sometimes not on the same page on a certain foreign policy issue we are always standing firmly together as partners in NATO, and we will continue to working together towards the stability and security of the region, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to North Macedonia, Matthew Lawson, said in answer to a journalist’s question about North Macedonia’s positioning in the United Nations General Assembly over the resolutions on Ukraine.
“I must say that Ukraine will remain a priority for the United Kingdom. Together with the Republic of North Macedonia we are partners in NATO and we are working together on strategic goals and joint achievements in foreign policy,” Lawson said.
On Monday, North Macedonia co-sponsored a United States resolution on Ukraine at the United Nations General Assembly that did not pass, while a resolution supported by European countries, which identified Moscow as the aggressor in its war against Ukraine and demanded Russian troop withdraw from Ukrainian territory, was adopted. Later in the day, the UN Security Council voted in favor of the US resolution on Ukraine that calls for a rapid end to the war but does not name Russia as the aggressor and does not call for a Russian withdrawal.
