Skopje, 3 June 2022 (MIA) – Top bodies of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) decided on Friday to stage a general strike on June 22, unless their demands are met until then for Mden 2,806 linear increase in wages and restoring the right to annual leave regression as of 2023.
The decision was reached at Friday’s sessions of SSM’s Presidency and Council, after Thursday’s failed attempt to reach an agreement with the Government to increase workers’ salaries in the public sector, following the Mden 18,000 minimum wage increase.
Union representatives had requested a meeting with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and the Ministers of Finance and Labor and Social Policy after seeing that the revised budget did not allot any funding for pay increases, which they say had been promised during previous negotiations.
