SSM to hold Labour Day protest
- The Federation of Trade Unions (SSM) is to organise a Labor Day protest on May 1st under the motto “The Workers are the State”.
Skopje, 29 April 2023 (MIA) – The Federation of Trade Unions (SSM) is to organise a Labor Day protest on May 1st under the motto “The Workers are the State”.
“We believe that the increase in public officials' wages by 78% or Mden 2,000 per day, the introduction of a 12-hour working day for many workers, the fact that they failed to increase the wages of health workers, that they did not conclude the general collective agreement for public sector, is a sufficient motive and a good enough reason to join the protest and express dissatisfaction,” SSM said in a press release.
They call workers, sister unions, citizens to stand together in unity and solidarity and prevent the intentions and bad government policies.
According to SSM, Labour Day protest is the only way for the government to listen to the voice of everyone, workers and citizens, because the practice of the past period continues, which means our social partners, employers and holders of the legislative and executive powers do not listen to the problems of the workers and the people, but only and exclusively work for their own interests.
The protest will begin May 1, 2023, at 12 PM in front of the SSM building in Skopje.
