Skopje, 10 May 2023 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi held a meeting Wednesday with a delegation from the Austrian Parliament’s Group for Cooperation with the Parliament of North Macedonia, during which they spoke about the country’s EU integration process, the constitutional amendments and mutual cooperation.

Xhaferi voiced his satisfaction with the meeting and expressed his gratitude over Austria’s support for North Macedonia.

According to a press release from Parliament, Xhaferi said the bilateral relations between the two countries are excellent and that these meetings will contribute to their further improvement. 

“Xhaferi spoke about the country’s EU integration process, expressing his hopes that the necessary consensus over the adoption of the constitutional amendments in Parliament will be reached by fall this year,” said Parliament in a press release.

The Chair of the Group for Cooperation, Stephanie Krisper, expressed her gratitude for the reception and the Group’s readiness to intensify parliamentary relations between the two countries.

Krisper touched upon North Macedonia’s EU integration process and said that, besides the constitutional amendments, the reforms implemented in the country are also very important during the process and will make the country more attractive to foreign investors.

Other MPs from the Group for Cooperation joined in the discussion as well, showing interest in the functioning of interparty cooperation in Parliament, especially the process of the Jean Monnet Dialogue.
