Skopje, 2 November 2021 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi met Tuesday with new Spanish Ambassador to the country, Jose Luis Lozano Garcia, highlighted the friendly bilateral relations and expressed hope for more intensive parliamentary cooperation in the future. Speaker Xhaferi again expressed gratitude over Spain’s swift ratification of the NATO Accession Protocol amid a pandemic, which completed North Macedonia’s accession process as the Alliance’s 30th member. On the European integration process, he expressed hope that the current obstacle would be removed so that the country finally begins the EU accession negotiations, the Parliament said in a press release. Ambassador Garcia reaffirmed the excellent bilateral ties and pledged that he would work on overcoming the deficit of bilateral meetings in the parliamentary field. He thanked North Macedonia for its support to Spain’s territorial integrity and sovereignty through observance of the Constitution and laws. On NATO and EU, Lozano Garcia highlighted Spain’s clear and unequivocal support and the efforts of the country’s authorities in recent months for sooner start of North Macedonia’s EU talks, reads the press release.
