Speaker Xhaferi meets new Hungarian Ambassador Klein
Skopje, 23 November 2022 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi met Wednesday with new Hungarian Ambassador Andras Klein, wishing him success in the post while highlighting the excellent bilateral relations but also within NATO and in the EU context. Speaker Xhaferi stressed Hungary’s support to North Macedonia’s EU integration process through the biennial conference of Western Balkans parliament presidents in Budapest, his Office said in a press release. “Our country is now in the stage of the screening process, investing efforts to meet the conditions for the resumption of the accession negotiation until its completion. We hope for continued support by Hungary on this path,” said Xhaferi. Ambassador Klein noted his preparedness to contribute in the continuation of the successful bilateral cooperation, since North Macedonia and the Western Balkans are among the priorities of Hungary’s foreign policy. Klein said Hungarian officials will visit North Macedonia in the course of next year, in the framework of the country’s preparations to assume the EU Presidency in the second half of 2024, focusing on possibilities for cooperation, including the parliamentary dimension. Interlocutors agreed that successful completion of the Euro-integration process and management of regional and global challenges caused by the war in Ukraine require comprehensive cooperation, for which they expressed readiness, reads the press release.
