Speaker Gashi meets UN Resident Coordinator Dudziak 

Skopje, 10 June 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Monday with the United Nations’ Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia, Rossana Dudziak.

According to a press release from Parliament, Gashi assessed the meeting as an excellent opportunity to exchange information and ideas on how to deepen the cooperation between the UN Resident Coordinator Office and Parliament. He also voiced gratitude to the UN agencies over the activities they implement in the country.

Resident Coordinator Dudziak informed the Speaker about the UN’s activities in the country and its cooperation with all ministries, especially in relation to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She touched upon the successful cooperation with Parliament so far and emphasized the Office’s readiness to organize a briefing for the new MPs over the role of parliaments in the implementation of the SDGs.

Gashi and Dudziak also exchanged opinions over the importance of quality education and the need for a reform of the educational system in cooperation with UNICEF, UNESCO and other international partners.

According to Parliament, Gashi and Dudziak agreed that Parliament’s productive cooperation with the UN Resident Coordinator Office and the UN agencies in the country should continue and be upgraded in the coming period.
