Kavadarci, 15 Decemberr 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski said Friday the number of attempts for illegal border crossings has dropped by 50 percent in 2023.

Minister Spasovski said the reduction is owed to the strengthened measures and more efficient control of the border area, police operations across the country and involvement of Frontex officers.

"The number of detected cases of migrant smuggling is similar to 2022 but if we consider the fact that the number of migrants in 2023 has dropped by half, it demonstrates the increased efficiency in the detection of these crimes," said Spasovski during a visit to Kavadarci.
