Skopje, 13 April 2023 (MIA) - Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Jose Manuel Albares Bueno will pay Friday a visit to the Republic of North Macedonia, at the invitation of counterapart Bujar Osmani.

FM Albares Bueno is set to meet with host Osmani and Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Discussions are expected to focus on bilateral relations, but also acceleration of North Macedonia's EU accession process in light of Spain's EU Presidency in the second half of 2023. In this regard, a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding on development of cooperation in the Union accession process is to be signed.

Interlocutors will also refer to possibilities for enhancement of economic relations and sectoral cooperation in other walks of life.

The Spanish FM is on a Balkan tour that includes Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Albania, communicating Madrid's renewed interest in the region and its support to the countries' EU accession efforts during the six-month Presidency.
