Skopje, 20 February 2025 (MIA) — The Spanish government has provided technical assistance financed through a grant of one million euros for consulting and engineering services for Lake Ohrid's wastewater treatment system, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said Thursday in a press release.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti at a working meeting with Spanish Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz thanked the Spanish government for the support given as part of the bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Spain.

At the meeting, Mexhiti spoke about the environmental authorities' priorities and discussed possibilities for accelerating the country's integration into the European Union. 

Mexhiti highlighted that the two friendly countries had had 30 years of diplomatic ties based on multilateral cooperation and mutual respect.

He also noted the importance of the EU's enlargement policy and common European values guaranteeing people's prosperity, the release said. mr/
