South-Eastern Europe Brigade Command organizes Seven Stars 22 exercise
Skopje, 28 September 2022 (MIA) - The South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) Command, stationed in North Macedonia, on Wednesday launched a computer-assisted exercise "Seven Stars 2022", which is held every two years and is the main training activity of SEEBRIG.
The international exercise aims at improving the operational capabilities of the brigade command and the affiliated units within the brigade in order to advance interoperability in operations in support of peace, humanitarian assistances and disaster response operations, the Army's General Staff said in a press release.
Running through October 10 with full support provided by the North Macedonia Army, the exercise brings together over 200 civilians and servicemen of SEEBRIG member countries, as well as observers from the NATO Rapid Deployment Commands in Greece and Turkey, OSCE and similar multinational commands.
"NATO command control and command procedures between the SEEBRIG Command and the affiliated units will take place during the exercise through computer simulated exercises and map exercises at the Simulation Center at the Training and Doctrines Command at the Veles Barracks and at the army capacities in Boro Menkov barrack in Kumanovo as well as the Krivolak training ground," said the press release.
A Distinguished Visitors Day will take place on October 6 at the Krivolak training ground, where a ground exercise will be performed to showcase tactical level activities of the SEEBRIG affiliated unit from the army of the host nation.
The Seven Stars 2022 exercise is expected to strengthen SEEBRIG's capabilities for cooperation and stability in Southeast Europe and demonstrate the preparedness for participation in operations in support of peace upon a request by the United Nations and OSCE.
SEEBRIG is formed in 1999 on the basis of the Agreement on Multinational Peace Force South-Eastern Europe (MPFSEE) after it was signed in 1998 in Skopje by Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, North Macedonia, Romania and Turkey.
The SEEBRIG Command, which is rotating, is located in the Boro Menkov barracks in Kumanovo from 2020 until 2026.
