Skopje, 22 November 2022 (MIA) – The second Socio-Ecological Forum, organized by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), Olof Palme International Center and the Progres Institute for Social Democracy, is to take place Tuesday in Skopje. PM Dimitar Kovachevski and Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi are to take part in the forum. PM Kovachevski is to take part in the high-level panel discussion on socially-just transformation for energy self-sufficient Europe, while Deputy PM Bytyqi is to attend the panel discussion on topic “Democracy needs democrats, and energy needs democratization.” “The Socio-Ecological Forum Skopje is a high-level stage for high-level progressive decision-makers from the Western Balkans region and the EU to discuss the needs and opportunities for a socially just energy transformation that will enhance security, make our economies sustainable and bring an end to fossil fuels poverty that is especially visible in the region. The discussions will draw attention to examples of ambitious energy policies from North Macedonia and the region as well as from other European countries. These challenges have to be addressed from several different perspectives. This is about a green environment and an energy efficient, carbon-free economy, with future-proof jobs. It’s about a social and ecological transformation of our society that leaves no one behind,” the organisers said. The Socio-Ecological Forum Skopje is the first high level forum in the Western Balkans, that unites regional political decision-makers, think-tanks, NGOs, youth leaders and journalists to discuss the way forward to a carbon-neutral Balkans and a clean and green future for everyone. The forum speakers include Martin Schulz, President of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and former President of the European Parliament, PM of Kosovo Albin Kurti, Ann Linde, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden as well as other politicians and experts from the country, the region and the EU.
