Skopje, 11 September 2025 (MIA) - National Bank Governor, Trajko Slaveski, met with the Ambassador of Japan to North Macedonia, Setsuko Kawahara, discussing further rapprochement and institutional cooperation which will contribute to promoting economic ties between the two countries.

Slaveski and Kawahara exchanged views on current global economic developments, challenges facing central banks amid increased uncertainty, as well as experiences in implementing monetary policy and maintaining financial stability, the central bank said in a press release on Thursday.

"Particular emphasis was placed on opportunities to promote cooperation between the National Bank and Japanese institutions, especially in the area of ​​digitalization in the financial sector, strengthening financial inclusion and advancing the skills and capacity of human resources. In this regard, interlocutors highlighted readiness to exchange knowledge and good practices, taking into account the Japanese experience and expertise in these areas," reads the press release.
