Skopje, 27 October 2025 (MIA) – A hyperbaric chamber for treating patients with chronic wounds, diabetic foot, burns, as well as for use by athletes, will soon be operational at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the September 8 City General Hospital in Skopje.
The hyperbaric chamber has been acquired as part of a hospital project supported by a donation from the company “Zegin”.
“This service will primarily benefit patients with chronic wounds that are slow to heal, diabetic foot, burns, as well as those from plastic surgery, pulmonology, and areas focused on strengthening immunity. It will also be available to healthy athletes, who through upcoming projects will use it to enhance their sports performance. It will be accessible to patients very soon,” said the head of the hospital, Sinisha Stojkoski, who presented the new equipment before Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Health Minister Azir Aliu.

Prime Minister Mickoski said he is grateful there are socially responsible companies that help improve conditions for the citizens.
“I would prefer fewer patients needing treatment for burns and more from the sports sector, but life is unpredictable, and having such a service adds value to the healthcare system,” Mickoski said.
Minister Aliu welcomed the cooperation between the private and public sector, stressing that it will contribute to more accessible and higher-quality healthcare.
“In successful countries, collaboration between public and private institutions is key to innovation, new technologies, and better healthcare, and we are following those steps,” Aliu said.
