'Skopje Urban Stories: Sensory City' outdoor art show opens

Skopje, 1 July 2025 (MIA) -- As part of Skopje Summer, an outdoor art exhibition titled "Skopje Urban Stories: Sensory City" opens Tuesday in the country's capital.

According to organizers, the exhibit offers an alternative perspective of Skopje "as a living body that is to be perceived by all our senses."

The show is based on the ideas that "perception is political" and that "senses can become resistance."

"With its modern concept, the exhibit makes it possible to display art in an open-air, non-traditional space, inspiring active participation by the audience," organizers say.

They suggest seeing the show by walking in downtown Skopje guided by the provided map.

The show was curated by Ana Frangovska. It features artworks by 15 artists, including contemporary painters, sculptors and graphic artists: Slavica Janashlieva, Goce Nanevski, Marija Sotirovska, Dijana Tomikj Radevska, Igor Sekovski, Boris Shemov, Robert Jankulovski and Monika Moteska, Gjorgje Jovanovikj, Gordana Vrencovska, Borche Bogoevski, Tatjana Ristovska, Ana Vchkova, Svetlana Volic (Serbia) and Luchezar Boyadjiev (Bulgaria).

It was organized by the Association of Artists of Macedonia DLUM with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Universal Hall, the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, the Museum of the City of Skopje, Macedonian Telecom, and the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence. mr/
