Skopje, 4 June 2023 (MIA) – The 2023 Pride Parade in Skopje will be held on June 24 under the slogan “Proud and Loud”, said the representatives of the National Network Against Homophobia and Transphobia at a press conference Sunday.
The Parade will begin in the Woman Warrior Park at 5pm, and follow the same route as previous years. The march will end with a cultural-musical program at the Stadium ARM in the Skopje City Park.
According to the organizers, progress regarding the rights of LGBT+ people is not equal, nor is it sufficient, and it constantly faces attacks by the forces who oppose universal human rights. “Precisely because of this,” they said, “Pride remains an important form of protest by the LGBT+ community against stigma, prejudice and violence.”
“In such a hostile environment, when hate speech and violence are growing, and homophobia and transphobia remain a dominant position of those in power, to be proud and loud represents resistance and protest against the system of repression. The LGBTI community has gone through many difficult periods, we will go through this one as well, with our heads raised high, loud and proud in the fulfillment of our vision for a world of equality and prosperity,” said Irena Cvetkovikj.
Skopje Pride 2023, according to the organizers, will offer a rich cultural and entertainment program, with live musical and drag performances.
