Skopje hosts Western Balkans Digital Summit 2025

Skopje hosts Western Balkans Digital Summit 2025

Skopje, 2 October 2025 (MIA) – The Western Balkans Digital Summit (WBDS) 2025 is taking place Thursday at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, which will be attended and addressed by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski. Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski and Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretary General, Amer Kapetanovic will also address the event.

Their addresses will be followed by the official opening of the main program, which focused on three priorities in the region’s digital future: digital wallet: secure, user-friendly access to public and private services; interoperability: connecting systems and registries to enable regional e-services, and cybersecurity: protecting personal data and critical infrastructure.

The Western Balkans Digital Summit is the region’s flagship platform for digital cooperation, launched in April 2018. The inaugural Summit was held in Skopje on 18–19 April 2018, and WBDS has since rotated annually across Western Balkan capitals, gathering governments, business, academia, and international partners to share knowledge and accelerate digital transformation, from the Western Balkans roaming-free breakthrough to advances in interoperability, digital skills, and e-services. WBDS is an initiative that is part of the Digital Agenda within the Common Regional Market (CRM) Action Plan and is co-funded by the European Union.

More than 800 participants and speakers are expected, including senior representatives of Western Balkan economies, European Commission, RCC, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as well as the leaders from the private sector.
