Skopje hosts two-day international conference marking 80th anniversary of Macedonian language codification
- An international scientific conference titled “Macedonian Language – 80 Years Since Codification” is organized Tuesday and Wednesday in Skopje by the Macedonian Language Department and the Macedonian Literature and Culture Department at the Blazhe Koneski Faculty of Philology as part of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University.
Skopje, 6 May 2025 (MIA) – An international scientific conference titled “Macedonian Language – 80 Years Since Codification” is organized Tuesday and Wednesday in Skopje by the Macedonian Language Department and the Macedonian Literature and Culture Department at the Blazhe Koneski Faculty of Philology as part of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University.
“Sixty scientists, Macedonian language scholars and Slavic language scholars from the country and abroad will mark together the 80th anniversary of the Macedonian language codification. The development of the Macedonian language, culture and culture, modern developments in Macedonian language studies, modern linguistic and literary theories, Macedonian language and literature in schools as well as literary translation are some of the themes of the new papers that will be presented at the conference, whose scientific board is comprised of 30 researches from eight countries,” the event’s organizational board announced.
The conference will also host a scientific gathering of young Macedonian language scholars, which brings together researchers from the country and abroad under 35.
The formal opening of the conference on Tuesday will be followed by a plenary session with renowned Macedonian language professors from the country and abroad taking part.
For two days during the conference, discussions will take place on several key and topical issues in Macedonian language studies, organizers said.
