Skopje gets first female mayor after Danela Arsovska declares victory
Skopje, 31 October 2021 (MIA) – Danela Arsovska, the VMRO-DPMNE-backed independent candidate for Skopje mayor, declared victory on late Sunday after the second round of the October local elections ended.
“For the first time in 30 years since the declaration of independence, Skopje gets a female mayor,” Arsovska said in her addressing thanking the Skopje citizens for their support.
She pledged she will start immediately to implement the projects included in her election program. “Some of them will be implemented in the first 82 days in office,” Arsovska stressed.
“I cannot say enough how much it means to me that Skopje decided to support my vision and for you deciding to vote against smear campaign and to entrust me with managing the city of Skopje in the next four years.”
“After difficult struggle, my opponent in this campaign was not only the outgoing mayor but also the outgoing prime minister. It is also my great pleasure to announce that for the first time in 30 years of independent Macedonia, Skopje will have a female mayor,” Arsovska said, pledging that she will transform Skopje into a clean, green and modern capital.
