Skopje, 9 February 2023 (MIA) — Firefighters from the Skopje City Fire Department have arrived in Gaziantep, Turkey, and have joined the search and rescue crews assisting in the earthquake relief efforts, the City of Skopje said in a press release.

“The city of Skopje has dispatched an intervention team to help with the rescue mission in Turkey," the release says.

"We have also allocated six million denars of humanitarian aid from the city budget to be delivered through the Red Cross of Macedonia to help with the consequences of the catastrophic earthquake in Turkey and Syria.”

City officials say they remain in contact with the Turkish local authorities and stand ready to help again when needed. mr/
