Skopje, Belgrade airports set to record strongest winter growth

Skopje, 30 October 2025 (MIA) - As the winter season begins, the airports in Skopje and Belgrade are set to record the strongest growth in the region, each adding more than half a million seats. Wizz Air is a major driver of the expansion in both cities, according to specialized air traffic website exyuaviation.com. 

Running until 28 March, the Skopje Airport is scheduled to serve 548.069 passengers more than in 2024, while the Belgrade Airport is scheduled to serve 517.919 passengers. Ohrid Airport, on the other hand, is expected to increase its passenger numbers by 24.162, the Ex-Yu Aviation News said. 

Almost all airports in the former Yugoslavia are increasing their available capacity compared to 2024. 

Overall, the former Yugoslav markets offer 13.165.258 seats on scheduled flights this winter season across 84.633 operations. 

The busiest international destination is Istanbul Airport, with 473.568 seats, followed by Zurich with 414.502 and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen with 342.704. 

So far, a total of 26 new routes have been scheduled from the former Yugoslavia this winter.
