Sixteen candidates vie for Skopje mayor in 2025 local elections

Skopje, 19 October 2025 (MIA) – The residents of the capital Skopje in the 2025 local elections, taking place Sunday, have the chance to elect one candidate out of the 16 running for mayor of the City of Skopje, including one woman.

855 candidates featured in 19 lists vie for 45 councillor seats. A total of 474,304 voters are eligible to vote in the City of Skopje.

Candidates who are running for mayor of Skopje include Orce Gjeorgjievski supported by VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition; Kaja Shukova, supported by SDSM and the coalition; Dragan Nikolovski, supported by a group of voters, as well as Sasho Manevski, Zoran Jovanoski from United Macedonia; Amar Mecionovikj from Levica; Demir Ismail from the Roma Union; Vladimir Kunoski from the Workers' Party; Aleksandar Tortevski from Your Party; Srdzan Amet from the Political Party Union of Roma Skopje; Aleksandar Trajanovski supported by LDP, GROM, Integra and PCER; Vangel Božinoski from Rodina Macedonia; Skender Rexhepi supported by the coalition led by DUI; Vladimir Trajkovski from Macedonian Era Third/Macedonian Independent Lists-Sovereignists; Goran Markovski supported by Independents Together, and Aleksadar Rashkovikj from TMRO.

The second round of this year’s local elections will take place November 2.
