Six letters of request sent to US administration to procure military equipment, deputy defense minister says

Skopje, 15 January 2025 (MIA) — Deputy Minister of Defense Elfet Ismaili told the parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security at a session Wednesday that the Ministry of Defense had officially submitted six letters requesting to procure military equipment from the US administration.
"The Ministry of Defense has considered the need for reforms in the defense sector," Ismaili said, adding that the state's long-term defense plan was to modernize the army until it reached full compliance with NATO partner members.
For this purpose, the Ministry of Defense has submitted six letters of request to the US Government requesting the procurement of military equipment," the deputy defense minister said.
The Committee on Defense and Security chair Pavle Arsoski said the contents of the letters were classified as restricted, according to the Law on Classified Information and closed the session after Ismaili's presentation.
Arsovski then invited committee members to ask questions and give comments following her presentation.
The committee's session agenda also included a proposal to send two army members to take part in the operation of the Unated Nations Interim Force in Lebanon from February to August 2025. mr/
