Silvestri: North Macedonia’s EU path to begin, we support the historical and linguistic distinctiveness
Skopje, 20 July 2022 (MIA) – Now begins the path towards the common European home, a path on which Italy is ready to cooperate at a bilateral level as well, with initiatives such as this one, which facilitate familiarity with our socio-political system, as well as, on the other side, a deeper understanding of the Macedonian society, its deeply rooted identity and its distinctiveness, including both its historical and linguistic distinctiveness, said Italian Ambassador Andrea Silvestri. This was stated by Silvestri at Wednesday’s signing of the Agreement on Cooperation and Data Exchange between the Media Information Agency – MIA and the Italian ANSA. The agreement was signed by MIA and ANSA directors – Dragan Antonovski and Stefano Piero Carlo De Alessandri in the presence of the ambassadors of both countries, Vesel Memedi and Andrea Silvestri. The Italian Ambassador expressed his satisfaction that the signing of the agreement follows the historic beginning of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations, a process which, he said, has always been strongly supported by Italy. According to Silversti, both countries need reliable and credible news, such as those provided by ANSA and MIA. The MIA-ANSA agreement provides for mutual news distribution and services which serve as sources of journalistic information. ad/ba/
