Siljanovska-Davkova to participate in event marking Venice Commission’s 35th anniversary

Skopje, 10 October 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova is on a working visit to Venice, Italy, where she will attend an event marking the 35th anniversary of the European Commission for Democracy through Law, the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
In a press release, the President’s Office said Siljanovska-Davkova is expected to address the event, which will be attended by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, among other high officials.
The event will be preceded by an exhibition titled “Democracy through law: from the Serenissima Republic to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe”.
The President will hold meetings with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, and the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Marc Cools.
“As part of her visit, the President will meet with representatives of the Macedonian community in Italy and address a reception held on the occasion of October 11 – Day of the Peoples’ Uprising at the General Consulate in Venice,” the President’s Office said.
Previously, during the period between 2008 and 2016, President Siljanovska-Davkova served as the Macedonian representative in the Venice Commission.
