Skopje, 31 December 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova extended a New Year’s greeting to the citizens, expressing hopes for a better year.

“We always have an obligation to step towards better things, for us, for our children and for the common good. It is said that one branch breaks easily, but when ten branches are bundled together this is impossible. Living in a world of twisted values, let us send messages that together we are stronger and happier. Let us extend a hand to the powerless, the people living on the margins, they need us, but we need them too. Let us build a society in which everyone will have a chance to lead a dignified life, support for the vulnerable, and inspiration, motive and future for the youth. We have an urgent need for environmental justice and a treaty with nature, but not as an imposed obligation, but as a prerequisite for a certain future,” Siljanovska-Davkova said.

In her greeting, the President said “as a nation we have the right to show the world our true face, to share our centuries-old story, to believe in our Macedonian dream”.

“As a person and as President I believe that fighting for the right thing, for justice and for morality, is worth it. By sticking to these principles, the small countries have a chance to overcome the great storms in international waters. I wish for 2025 to be a year of successes, stability, joy and realized dreams; for us to live in peace and harmony with those we love and love us,” President Siljanovska-Davkova said in her greeting.
