Skopje, 7 March 2025 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met Friday with the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament (Sabor), Gordan Jandroković, who is on official visit to the country. 

According to the President’s Office, Siljanovska-Davkova and Jandroković recalled the joint beginning of the accession process 20 years ago, that had “completely different outcomes for the two countries”. 

The President noted that the Croatian experience with the EU accession is a relevant lesson for the country, and Croatia can aid the country with the lessons learned during the accession process. 

Siljanovska-Davkova noted the country’s readiness to focus on “the Copenhagen challenges, unless we are stuck in senseless bilateral disputes which are a real threat not only for us and the region, but also for EU enlargement”. 

The Speaker of the Croatian Sabor stressed the threat of veto by the neighboring countries is not fair and noted that Croatia will remain a faithful friend with great understanding and support. 

The President and the Speaker underscored “their care for the Macedonian minority in Croatia and the Croatian minority in Macedonia, which have grown into firm bridges of mutual trust and cooperation". 

Siljanovska-Davkova and Jandroković also discussed “the dramatic shifts in the global order, as well as the vulnerable security situation in Europe and the world with a commitment for a lasting Russo-Ukrainian solution for peace”. 

The meeting, according to the President’s Office, concluded with an agreement to continue to expand and deepen the relations between the two countries in the field of politics, economy, culture, tourism and sport. 

The President also sent her regards to the President of Croatia, who she expects to visit the country in May, the President’s Office said.
