Siljanovska Davkova attends Holocaust commemoration at Treblinka memorial in Poland

Skopje, 10 March 2026 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova will pay a working visit to Poland on Tuesday to attend a commemoration event for the Holocaust of Macedonian Jews. The event will be held at the Treblinka memorial and museum complex located at the site of the former Nazi extermination camp in occupied Poland.

Siljanovska Davkova will lay a wreath at the memorial dedicated to 7,144 Macedonian Jews deported to the death camp in March 1943, the President's Office said in a press release. 

The Macedonian delegation led by Siljanovska Davkova also includes Ambassador Gabriel Atanasov, National Coordinator for combating Antisemitism and Head of delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance - IHRA, representatives from the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia and representatives from the Jewish community.

During her visit to Poland, the President will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw, and meet with representatives of the Macedonian diaspora.

"Siljanovska Davkova is the first Macedonian president to visit the Treblinka memorial and museum complex on the occasion of the commemoration of the Day of Deportation of Macedonian Jews," reads the press release.
