Skopje, 25 December 2023 (MIA) - No municipality has so far submitted a short-term action plan to the Environment Ministry for measures taken to reduce air pollution in situations when limit values are exceeded, said Environment MInister Kaja Shukova.

Shukova told Telma TV that when environmental laws are not implemented, there is no talk about punishments, but about revocation of authority.

"There is no point in revoking authority. If we start doing that in terms of air pollution, I don't know what we're going to do," said Shukova. 

The municipalities, she pointed out, should take concrete measures, particularly when limit values ​​are exceeded.

Just as the state allocates funds to reduce air pollution, according to Shukova, municipalities should do the same within their budgets.

It is necessary, Shukova noted, to invest in all sectors that affect the environment, particularly in renewable energy sources.
