Shilegov: Skopje becoming European metropolis where people matter
Skopje, 15 October 2021 (MIA) — SDSM’s Petre Shilegov, running for a second term as Skopje Mayor, has released a video message addressing Skopje citizens to highlight his achievements as mayor over the past four years and to urge voters to go to the polls on Sunday, Oct. 17. “The traffic solutions we are implementing will mean a city without congestion, and Skopje will get a larger pedestrian zone than any other European city,” Shilegov says. “Skopje is completely changing and becoming a European metropolis with swaths of public space, greenery and exceptional infrastructure,” he adds. On Sunday, Skopje citizens are not only electing their mayor, according to Shilegov; they are choosing the direction Skopje would move in. Shilegov says he considers politics only as a means to create better living conditions, to build bridges and unite people, and to make Skopje one of the most developed cities in Europe. “My politics has clear goals: modern infrastructure, high-quality public transport and a clean and healthy environment,” he says, adding that he wants “a Skopje where young people are happy to create their families, a Skopje where everyone is welcome, a green Skopje with smiling, satisfied and happy people. Skopje, a strong city where people matter.” Bridges, boulevards, and tunnels, he says, are his vision of a connected city coming true. “They connect people and make Skopje unique and strong,” Shilegov says. “This is the Skopje I want to continue building with all of you. I ask for your support so we never stop going. And I will continue being a mayor who always puts people, and Skopje, first.” mr/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO66iCxZ7yk
