Shilegov: Process of broadening support for my mayoral candidacy starts
Skopje, 19 October 2021 (MIA) – The process of broadening support for my mayoral candidacy starts today, SDSM’s candidate for mayor of Skopje, Petre Shilegov, said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
He added that his projects and thoughts on how the city should develop were similar to those of other candidates.
“Those of you who gave your support to them in the first round support the policy of progress and development that we’ve been implementing in the past four years,” Shilegov said, calling on citizens who abstained from voting in the first round to cast their vote on October 31 for a prosperous Skopje.
Skopje, he stressed, must remain a city in which residents make important decisions, adding that if democratic forces unite, Skopje will grow into a single coalition and citizens will participate in crucial projects through a system of direct democracy.
“I’m extending a hand to all citizen, political parties and organizations that believe Skopje must continue to develop and that we should finish what we have started. Skopje must remain a city in which citizens make decisions and cannot regress back to times of division, false myths and unplanned development. Together, we’ll make crucial decisions for our joint future,” Shilegov told the news conference.
Skopje, he added, has strength in the unity of those who see it a member of the community of modern, developed European cities.
“Politics must serve citizens, it’s a platform through which I’m calling on voters and political parties that cherish Skopje to vote for victory in large numbers. These are the elections for the future of our city. These are the elections at which you’ll have to choose how Skopje will move forward and what kind of city you want to live in,” Shilegov underlined.
