Skopje, 17 September 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska, who is paying a several-day working visit to the United States, met Friday with former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Madeleine Albright, Shekerinska said on Facebook, is not only a living legend of American politics, but also a vocal advocate for democracy and human rights. “The former US Secretary of State, the first woman to hold such a position in US history, who was closely involved in the Balkans in the 1990s, hosted me at her home in Georgetown, which bears witness to her rich political past. She asked me to convey her gratitude in Skopje for the sheltering of the Afghan evacuees who worked for US NGOs. I was impressed and honored to have talked with such an important figure at the top of world diplomacy, whose words still resonate and matter,” Shekerinska’s post reads.
