Shekerinska in Naples: Our NATO membership has benefited entire region
Naples, 2 September 2021 (MIA) — Afghanistan and the regional situation as well as North Macedonia’s role as a NATO member directly contributing to peace and stability were some of the topics Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska and Admiral Robert Burke, Commander of NATO Allied Joint Force Command, talked about in Naples, Italy, on Thursday. According to the Ministry of Defense, Minister Shekerinska said NATO membership was not only a privilege but also a responsibility and an opportunity to contribute to peace and security in the world and in the region. "This is why we are proud of our participation in the KFOR mission in Kosovo,” Shekerinska said. “It’s how the region most directly felt the benefits of our country's NATO membership, and NATO got an ally whose constructive policy has long been recognized in the region and beyond.” The delegation from the Ministry of Defense and the Army also had other meetings in the Allied Joint Force Command, where they were briefed on the activities and plans for military exercises and operations, the official press release adds. mr/
