Share of national electricity production in consumption at 71.4 pct in June: statistics
Skopje, 25 August 2022 (MIA) – In June 2022, total consumption by types of energy commodities in North Macedonia was 521 750 MWh of electricity, 3.139 mil. nm3 of natural gas, 436 990 tons of coal, and 97 452 tons of petroleum products, show State Statistical Office data.
Gross national electricity production participated with 71.4 % in gross national electricity consumption, while 97.1 % of the total national consumption of coals were used for generation of electricity.
In the first seven months of this year, ESM Power Plants produced 2,194 GWh of electricity, which is 15% more than last year, and the increase in production, according to the company, is primarily due to increased production in the thermal power plants REK Bitola and REK Oslomej by 40%.
The Government is expected to declare on Thursday state of crisis in relation to electricity and heating energy. The state of crisis should come into force as of September 1. Measures aimed at saving energy and electricity up to 15 percent will also be enforced as of September 1, 2022, until March 31, 2023.
