Skopje, 1 February 2023 (MIA) - Over 90% of textbooks have been delivered for the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade which are going to be following a curriculum that is in accordance with the 2020 Elementary Education Conception, according to Minister of Education Jeton Shaqiri, who added that the last missing textbooks will be delivered on Wednesday.

In response to a reporter's question following the signing of the cooperation memorandum with OSCE, Shaqiri said that the 3rd and 6th grades will be included next year according to the Conception, and all textbooks will be delivered September 1st, meeting the deadline. At the start of the study year 2022/2023, due to a delay, the students in these grades received study materials for the first semester.

He said that two textbooks have been amended - the DUI abbreviation in the Albanian Language textbook for the 5th grade, and inaccurate data has been amended in History and Society for the 5th grade. The complaints that the MES received have also been passed on to the authors. Nobody answered the public call for reviewers.

Shaqiri also said that he is not part of the negotiating team regarding whether the negotiations for the entry of Alliance for Albanians in the government also entail the education sector, adding that the media will be timely notified of any and all information. dk/nn/
