Gostivar, 5 May 2023 (MIA) — The Ministry of Education and Science creates educational policies but it needs support from all stakeholders in society to continue building a peaceful and harmonious school environment, which has no room for peer violence, Education Minister Jeton Shaqiri said in Gostivar on Friday.

"Young people live in new times, with many new challenges, and we have to find ways to eliminate the factors and tame the youthful, explosive spirit," Minister Shaqiri said.

"That is why we are initiating a dialogue with the expert public and the academic community as well as with all other competent institutions, so we can take concrete action as soon as possible," he added.

He said the Ministry of Education and Science had a new email address for reporting violence in schools (prijavinasilstvo@mon.gov.mk and paraqitdhune@mon.gov.mk). Whenever school violence was reported, he said, the institutions would immediately react and prevent serious situations.

Shaqiri was in Gostivar to attend the "Educational Rendezvous" student competition organized by the Youth Association of Technical High Schools in Macedonia.

Addressing the opening of the event, Shaqiri said he was extremely happy to see young people making friends in and out of school, studying together, and competing through knowledge, which he said they should focus on. mr/
