September consumer price index up by 2.6% annually, retail price index up by 3.3%: statistics

Skopje, 8 October 2024 (MIA) - The Consumer Price Index in September 2024, compared to September 2023, increased by 2.6%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 3.3%, said the State Statistical Office on Tuesday.
Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in September 2024, compared to August 2024 was 0.3%.
The increase of inflation in September 2024, compared to August 2024, is the result of the increase in the consumer prices in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 1.7%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 1.1%, Communications by 0.9%, Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.5%, Education by 0.3% and Health by 0.1%.
In September 2024, compared to August 2024, a decrease in Consumer Price Index was registered in the following groups: Transport by 5.3%, Recreation and culture by 1.8%, Restaurants and hotels by 0.4%, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.2%. The Consumer Price Index in the group Clothing and footwear remained at the same level as in the previous month.
The Retail Price Index in September 2024 compared to August 2024 was 99.3, statistics show.
