SEC: Voter turnout 14.18% by 11 am
Skopje, 31 October 2021 (MIA) – Voter turnout by 11 am is 14.18%, i.e. 160,035 voters have cast their vote. Voter identification using fingerprint scanners is problem-free, State Election Commission (SEC) President Aleksandar Dashtevski told a press conference.
According to him, voter turnout in the municipality of Rankovce is 38.2%, followed by Vevchani – 31.24%, Demir Kapija – 30.14%, Pehchevo – 28.44%, Konche – 26.74%, Demir Hisar – 25.19%, Kratovo – 25.12%, Probishtip – 24.75% and Lozovo – 23.51%. Turnout is low in Saraj – 5.19% and Bogovinje – 6.8%.
Voting was interrupted for over an hour in three polling places in Skopje, three in Saraj, one in Karposh, one in Cheshinovo Obleshevo and one in Zelenikovo.
Dashetvski told reporters that issues with memory cards of biometric identification devices were faced in three polling stations in Centar and Saraj, but they have been resolved. SEC, he added, decided that conventional identification should be used there while scanners were being fixed. Voting has now resumed in all polling stations.
“Fingerprint scanners are working properly nationwide after memory card issues were resolved. No other problems have been reported and voting is taking place uninterrupted,” said SEC’s head.
Dashtevski also told reporters that SEC has accepted 109 voter complaints and rejected 65. Moreover, municipal election commissions have received 84 complaints, of which it accepted 72 and rejected 8.
