Skopje, 18 September 2025 (MIA) - The State Election Commission (SEC), the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC), and the State Audit Office (SAO) have signed a memorandum of cooperation ahead of the upcoming local elections.

According to the SEC, by signing this memorandum, the three institutions strengthen their commitment to direct cooperation, coordination and mutual assistance in implementing the provisions on election campaign financing, exchange of information and data, as well as swift action upon detected irregularities.

"Special emphasis is placed on transparency in the financing of the election campaign through regular exchange of financial reports, as well as joint activities to promote compliance with election regulations in order to conduct free, fair and democratic elections. The memorandum also provides for mutual cooperation in the area of ​​handling complaints, objections and other procedures of mutual interest, consultations and exchange of experience, as well as the creation and implementation of joint projects," the SEC said in a press release. 

By signing this document, it adds, the SEC, the SCPC and the SAO send a clear message about their commitment to ensuring a credible electoral process and increasing citizens' trust in institutions and elections.
