SEC revokes accreditations of eight domestic observers over undue influence on voters

Skopje, 2 November 2025 (MIA) - The State Election Commission (SEC) as part of its session on Sunday has discussed two complaints regarding the exercise of the right to vote, and reached a decision to revoke the accreditations of eight domestic observers due to acting contrary to the Electoral Code and the Observation Code.
One of the complaints was filed by a person from the Municipality of Centar and as the SEC pointed out at the session, after the expert service had looked into the case, it has been determined that the person is in fact registered in the voters list at a polling station in the Municipality, and can freely exercise the right to vote until 7 pm. The SEC thereby rejected the complaint.
The other complaint was filed via email by a person from Kichevo, who said his data were not found in the biometric identification device. In addition to the SEC, the complaint had been sent to the Ombudsman and the Prosecutor's Office. SEC president Boris Kondarko pointed out that after checks carried out by the expert service and the IT sector, it has been determined that the person was in fact registered in the voters list and in the biometric identification device, and can therefore exercise the right to vote until 7 pm.
Kondarko noted that the Prosecutor's Office has the email in question and can look into the remaining circumstances of the case, which do not relate to the right to vote, as the SEC is only responsible for the exercise of the right to vote.
He also pointed out that so far, no disruption of the exercise of the right to vote has been observed at any polling station.
In addition, the SEC also decided to revoke the accreditations of eight domestic observers in the Municipality of Shuto Orizari, regarding whom the SEC had received a report previously on Sunday over misuse of accreditation badges for domestic observers, i.e. undue influence on voters in front of polling stations at a school.
"The SEC has issued accreditations for observation to these persons, according to the information submitted to us, and we concluded that these people had violated the Observation Code for persons who should act impartially at polling stations," said Kondarko.
He added that the SEC has notified the Ministry of Interior about this event because it took place outside a polling station, where the SEC is not competent. After the accreditations are revoked, Kondarko noted, the SEC will notify the Municipal Election Commission in Shuto Orizari and the electoral boards not to allow these persons to enter the polling stations and voting facilities, i.e. they must not refer to the accreditations and badges previously given to them by the SEC.
