Skopje, 19 October 2025 (MIA) – All polling stations opened on time and the process of casting votes in Sunday’s local elections is going smoothly, said the State Election Commission (SEC).

Polling stations opened at 7 am and will close at 7 pm.

1,832,451 people are eligible to vote by 7 pm in 3,474 polling stations across the country.

A total of 309 mayoral candidates are running in the 2025 local elections, which also feature 576 lists of municipal council members with a total of 10,490 candidates.

Inmates, people in house arrest, the sick and infirm and people accommodates in nursing homes cast their votes on Saturday.

The SEC announced it will inform about the process of voting and the turnout at a 9:30 news conference.

The SEC should release preliminary results within 12 hours.
