Skopje, 14 March 2024 (MIA) – In accordance with the transitional provision in the amendments of the Electoral Code that only applies to the 2024 elections, citizens whose ID cards or passports expire during a period of 9 months before the elections will be eligible to vote at the coming presidential and parliamentary elections, said the State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday.

Specifically, this means that all citizens whose documents expired in the period between July 24, 2023 and April 24, 2024 will be eligible to vote at the presidential elections, and those whose documents expired in the period between August 8, 2023 and May 8, 2024 will be eligible to vote at the parliamentary elections, SEC announced.

The Commission also stated that, in line with the adopted amendments to the Electoral Code, all citizens living in the Republic of North Macedonia who turn 18 by election day will be added to the electoral roll.
